Inaugural Sêr Cymru Postgraduate Conference

At Swansea University, Great Hall, Bay Campus
We are pleased to announce this inaugural pan-Wales PhD conference. The 1-day event will bring together over 100 students from the three Sêr Cymru National Research Networks in Advanced Engineering & Materials, Life Sciences and Low Carbon, Energy & Environment. The aim of the day is to foster networking between our PhD students, give them an opportunity to showcase their work and to introduce them to the wider research community within Wales.

Conference programme
Registration will start at 9:30. The conference opening will be at 10:30. The day will involve 6 students’ presentations, 3 guest speakers, poster session and presentation from students’ groups. We will provide a cheese and wine reception at the end to encourage further networking.

Conference and registration fees
The conference is free of charge to all NRN-PhD students and invited guests. Your own NRN will cover the cost for travel and accommodation. Swansea University will make available the residential halls accommodation at the Bay Campus.
Poster submissions
All NRN-funded PhD students will present a poster on their research work. This is an opportunity to convey your research message in a succinct and effective format and attract interest to your research theme. 9 outstanding posters will be selected and their authors will deliver a 10 minute oral presentation at the Conference. The winners will be notified by the end of August. Each of these award winners will receive a gift voucher to the value of £100. There will be further prizes for those posters judged to be excellent by the students.
